Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior political figure commented the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
